Sonia Sandiford – Assessment Manager
My name is Sonia Sandiford, and I am the Assessment Manager for the Northwest Assessment Service at UK Fostering. I joined UK Fostering in April 2024 and continue to enjoy my role, which involves quality assuring assessments and supporting independent assessors through the panel process.
Before joining UK Fostering, I held several roles across different sectors. I spent eight years working with the Careers Service before moving into a role supporting women in a refuge who had experienced civil unrest—an experience that deepened my understanding of trauma and resilience.
In 1996, I joined Manchester Children’s Services as a qualified social worker. Over the years, I progressed through various leadership roles in front line child protection court services and within the fostering service.
Outside of work, I am a proud mother of two adult children and a grandmother to one grandson.
